That makes them less efficient for time spent labeling, and it wastes tape. The tape cutter will cut one side to the margin, but you have to trim the leader side with scissors. Unless you like insanely large margins, you set the narrow margin option. It’s a good little printer also, but my one major complaint is the tape cutting system. I use a Brother printer for labeling EVERYTHING in the lab. It’s a really good little portable printer, and I highly recommend it. Tape is somewhat expensive, but it’s extremely durable, very readable, and comes in a variety of sizes (I mostly used the 3/4″ black on white nylon cloth for coax and the black on white 1/4″ Permasleeve for data cables). The BMP21-Plus (don’t know what the difference is) is $99. I have a Brady BMP-21 I bought a few years ago because I had to label a bunch of coax and data wiring in a rooftop radio room. Posted in Tool Hacks Tagged heat shrink, heatshrink, label, label printer Post navigation ![]() Did you know you can get it with adhesive inside it, too? Heat shrink is probably more high tech than you’d think. Once the proper holes were covered and uncovered, everything worked great. It turns out the cheap printer can do non-mirrored printing, but to make that work, one of the holes in the special cassette needed to stay open. So the reverse print doesn’t really help you. However, with heat shrink, it isn’t transparent and there’s no backing material. This makes sense because it puts the markings under the tape where they are relatively safe from moisture or physical abrasion. The printer marks the backside of the see-through label and then bonds the paper backing to it as it exits the printer. In the cassette, the label material has no paper backing which is separate in a different part of the cartridge. To understand why, you have to understand how the normal labels work. With the holes covered up, the printer worked, but the print came out mirrored. This discovery was made using the extremely scientific trick of covering all the holes that were not on a regular cassette. No worry, this isn’t sophisticated DRM, just a sense hole that you need to cover with tape. It seems like Brother doesn’t want you using exotic tapes with cheap printers. You can see both videos, below.Īt first, the printer didn’t even want to recognize the cassette. However, he later had a breakthrough and made a second video explaining how to do it. Could he use the heat shrink cassettes to make neat wire labels? In his first video the answer was sort of, but not really. ![]() However, he also found something else: cassettes with heat shrink tubing in them made for the same kind of printer. has a cheap Brother label printer and discovered he can buy knock off label cassettes for a lot less from China. Labeling wires in a bundle is always useful, too. Heat shrink tubing is great for insulating wires. Every two years, researchers and experts spot her returning to the west coast of Baja, Mexico where she was first seen to reproduce during the mating season.įast forward to 2019, the queen of the ocean made a surprise appearance once again in Oahu, Hawaii where a group of marine biologists tracking tiger sharks found her scavenging food from a sperm whale’s carcass. According to Padilla, however, Deep Blue’s movements are predictable because of the female migration patterns of great whites. Unfortunately, Padilla’s team wasn’t able to tag Deep Blue that time, therefore her location and whereabouts are still unknown until today. From then on she became widely known as ‘Deep Blue’. The shark became an ocean celebrity overnight and was featured in Discovery Channel’s ‘Shark Week’ episode. In 2014, they uploaded the said video and it piqued everyone’s interest, gaining thousands of views shortly after it was released. ![]() ![]() Y ou can watch the unseen footage taken by Maier below. When the diver pushed her away, that’s when they realized how huge the shark was in actuality, and they were beyond amazed. You’ll see how one of the divers touched the shark’s fin while she took curious bites on the cage. Luckily they saw the same shark circling around them once again, and this time, their encounter was caught on video by Michael Maier. ![]() However, their first interaction with the shark wasn’t caught on tape, so they came back on the second day. That’s exactly what happened to shark movement specialist, Mauricio Hoyos Padilla and his team, when they spotted a massive female great white in Guadalupe Island, Mexico in 2013. Suddenly, the game grows tense as you need to plan your moves very carefully. While Tower mode essentially has you demolishing towers of letters, hopefully leaving as little word rubble as possible, the rest of the game modes ask you to do the opposite: stop columns from reaching the top of the screen. Tough letters can really boost your score, which might explain why PORKIES scored more highly than NEUTERED for me. ![]() Though scoring isn’t as transparent as some might like, it’s pretty obviously based on the length and letters used. Tower mode gives you a grid of 150 letters to get the highest points tally you can. The tutorial is over in less than a minute – and advertised as such – leaving you to get on with the various other modes. Meanwhile, letters like Q, X, and Z are highlighted, denoting the fact that they remove an entire row if they’re successfully used in a word. If you make a word with five letters or more, all the surrounding letters will also disappear from play. Others have a number in the corner, representing the minimum number of letters in the word you use to take them out. Some letters are blacked out, and you’ll need to make a word with adjacent letters to reveal them. You need to make words of three letters or more by tracing a path with your finger, moving it horizontally, vertically, or diagonally until all letters are selected, whereupon they’ll be removed from the board. Its core concept is as simple as they come. It gives both you and the letters room to breathe. SpellTower is currently planned for release on iPod touch and iPhone, but the extra space afforded by the larger iPad screen seems to really suit it. A grid of letters has rarely felt so attractive. Not just in its mechanics, but its aesthetic, which is clean, crisp, and refreshing. There’s a simple elegance at the heart of Zach Gage’s word game that makes it very appealing. Over the years we’ve developed our style of writing Haskell, which can be described as very Elm-like (it’s also still changing!). Today some key parts of our backend code are written in Haskell. This time around Nintendo has upped the ante with 12 racers, making for a much more competitive and fun race.Īs you work your way through the cups, you will notice something different from the traditional Mushroom, Flower and Star cups. One of the other things often overlooked in other Mario Karts were the number of opponents included in the race. Users of the bikes will find that they have to be careful on tracks like Rainbow Road or Wario Mines, where the lack of walls and an opponent with a large kart can quickly put them over the edge and losing their valuable position in the race. You are able to do wheelies and even tricks in the air in order to gain speed boosts throughout the race.Īs expected the bikes are also faster and control differently then the karts, giving you the option to race with just karts, just bikes or mixed.
